ED P 301: Child Development and Learning ASSIGNMENT # 2: What I â€Å"Learned† During the Course? Sokhom Sim California State University of Long Beach What Do I learned During the Course? During the course I learned that the child development is the changes that occur as a child grows and develops in physical, mental, emotion, and health. For example, the first five years of children s life are very important for the children development. Also, it is the foundation that forms children s future growth, learning at school, in the family and community. According to the book â€Å"The Development of Children† by Lightfoot et al emphasize that the first five years are very important for the development of the children s brain, and the first three years are the most critical in determining the children s brain structure (lightfoot et al 130). Moreover, the early experiences are the base for the development and function throughout life. Actually, children learn more quickly when they were young than at any other time in life. They need love and nurturing to develop a sense of trust and security which turns into confidence later in life. Another example is that the bab ies and young children grow, learn and develop rapidly when they receive love, attention, encouragement, as well as nutrition and health care. By understanding the stages of child development helps parents and the caregivers know how to support the child as he or she grows.
